How Does Invisalign Straighten Teeth?
Traditional braces use brackets and wires to realign your teeth. Invisalign is free of all of this uncomfortable hardware. Instead of dealing with a mouthful of metal, you wear a series of comfortable and clear plastic aligners. These aligners steadily reposition your teeth. Best of all, they are designed to be virtually undetectable in your smile. That means no brace face!
Does Invisalign Hurt?
Most of our patients report that Invisalign is a completely comfortable experience. Aside from some slight pressure when you switch to a new aligner, you won’t feel discomfort from Invisalign aligners. Unlike traditional braces, there are no invasive procedures required to install or remove orthodontic hardware.
Is Invisalign Effective?
Yes. According to numerous clinical trials and university research studies, Invisalign is as effective as traditional braces in treating many different orthodontic issues. Invisalign can effectively close embarrassing gaps between your teeth, realign crooked teeth, and even correct certain issues with your bite. However, Invisalign is not suitable for all orthodontic issues.
How Do I Know What My Smile Will Look Like After Treatment with Invisalign?
Good question! Orthodontic treatment with Invisalign is planned using advanced computer technology and 3D imaging software. Every step of your treatment is planned before you put on your first aligner. Using this software we can even give you a 3D preview of what your new smile will look like, before you begin treatment!
How Long Will I Have to Wear My Invisalign Aligners?
Invisalign aligners are designed to be worn for about 20 to 22 hours a day. (You remove them when it’s time to eat or brush your teeth.) Each aligner is worn for about two weeks, and then you graduate onto the next aligner. Total treatment time varies for every patient, but many adults only have to undergo treatment with Invisalign for about one year.
How Many Appointments Are Required with Invisalign?
Generally speaking Invisalign requires far fewer appointments than traditional braces. You’ll receive several aligners at each appointment so you don’t have to come into the office every two weeks. Invisalign was designed and created with working adults and busy professionals in mind!
How Will Invisalign Affect My Diet?
It won’t! Invisalign aligners are removable, so when it’s time to eat, you just take out your aligner. That means the freedom you need to enjoy every item on the menu! Compare that to traditional braces which can severely limit your diet. When you’re wearing traditional braces you have to avoid chewy foods (such as candy) which could get tangled in the wires, or hard foods (like steak or crusty bread) which could damage the brackets or wires of the braces.
How Do I Brush My Teeth with Invisalign?
You simply take out your aligner and then brush and floss like normal. Traditional braces require special orthodontic floss and a great deal of care when you’re brushing. Traditional braces can increase the amount of time you spend braces and flossing from 5 minutes up to nearly 15 minutes at a time! Then when the brackets are removed, you may have to deal with unsightly yellow stains on the ront of your teeth! Invisalign is free of all of these hassles!
