Hey there Houston! Welcome back to the ongoing dental health blog of the Antoine Dental Center. A couple days ago, we published a blog post about Invisalign. We briefly mentioned that although Invisalign is an effective option for many adults, not everyone is a candidate for Invisalign.
Yesterday, a gentleman came into our office to ask about our other options for orthodontic treatment. For years he’s been living with a severe overbite. It was has become more than just an aesthetic issue for him; his overbite is causing him both headaches and jaw pain. We evaluated his teeth and found that traditional braces were the best option for him.
When you’re looking for an orthodontist in Houston, it’s important to find one who offers a wide range of orthodontics beyond one option like Invisalign or traditional braces. Even though Invisalign and traditional braces are wonderful orthodontic treatments, they are not appropriate as a one-size-fits-all approach.
At the Antoine Dental Center in Houston, TX, you’ll never have to worry about us hard-selling a treatment that’s not right for you. We offer Invisalign, clear ceramic braces, and traditional braces. That wide range of options allows to ensure you get just the right treatment for your unique smile.
Treatment from Dr. Nazari can correct a variety of problems with your teeth. We can close wide gaps between your teeth, improve the alignment and bite of your teeth, and straighten them if they are crooked. Orthodontic treatment can improve your quality of life by making it easier to speak clearly, to chew your favorite foods, and avoid excessive wear and trauma to your teeth.
Traditional wire braces are the most effective way to correct many different orthodontic issues. Unlike the bulky braces of the past, metal braces from the Antoine Dental Center are now sleeker and much more comfortable than before. Because they are smaller, they are much easier to wear and clean.
Traditional braces use metal brackets, wires, and bands to straighten your teeth and correct problems with your bite. On occasion,we will adjust and tighten these wires to ensure the best possible results. Traditional braces may take up to two years to be effective.
We also offer clear, ceramic braces as an alternative to traditional braces. These braces use brackets and wires constructed out of clear materials. While still using traditional bracket and wire orthodontics, clear braces are less visible in your smile. However, we recommend clear braces for older patients because they are more brittle than metal braces.
As we’ve mentioned before, we also offer Invisalign in Houston, TX. Invisalign is probably our most popular option for orthodontic treatment. Invisalign is best used to correct issues such as gapped teeth, crooked teeth, and misaligned teeth. Invisalign is generally effective in about half the time as traditional wire braces or clear braces.
Invisalign is most effective for adult patients and older teenagers. Invisalign uses discreet, clear aligners to gently reposition your teeth little by little. Invisalign is one of very few orthopedic treatments available which does not use brackets and wires. Invisalign aligners are worn for two weeks at a time, then switched out for a new aligner. This incremental approach ensures a comfortable orthodontic experience.
Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign aligners are removable. This is an advantage for most patients because it allows them greater freedom. You remove your Invisalign aligner before eating or brushing your teeth. However, Invisalign also requires some degree of discipline because the aligners need to be worn for 20 to 22 hours a day. Your Houston orthodontist we help you determine what your best option for orthodontic is.
