Is there a problem with your teeth that you really don’t like? Are they cracked, misshapen, discolored or broken? Or maybe they’re unevenly spaced? You hate this part of your appearance and it makes you embarrassed to smile.
Perhaps you’ve even considered cosmetic dentistry in the past, but it seems too time-consuming or unaffordable on your budget. Overwhelmed, you just continue to avoid smiling.
There is a solution to your problem that you may have never even considered. At Antoine Dental Center, we offer affordable cosmetic dentistry in Houston, Tx; in today’s blog post, we’re going to tell you about tooth bonding and how it works.
What is Dental Bonding?
Dental Bonding is an affordable way to look great, and repair your teeth. It has uses in both cosmetic dentistry and preventative dentistry. We use dental bonding sometimes in place of dental fillings if we need to restore a decayed tooth.
In addition, dental bonding can be used to repair chips, cracks, and discoloration of your teeth. It can also be used to correct the appearance of a misshapen tooth or lessen the gap between your teeth.
Dental bonding is performed with a composite resin material. Composite resin is a safe blend of a durable plastic. It can be shipped to match the texture and appearance of your teeth. In addition, there are many shades of composite resin available, so we can closely match the color of your natural teeth.
How Does the Procedure Work?
Dental bonding can be performed in just one visit, lasting about an hour. You probably won’t need anesthesia for your procedure, unless the dental bonding is being performed to repair tooth decay. However, we do offer sedation dentistry if you’re a bit nervous about the procedure.
We begin your appointment by roughening the surface of your tooth slightly. This process also the material to apply more quickly. We then place a special adhesive solution on your tooth. Afterwards, the composite rain is placed on the tooth.
After placing the composite resin, we mold and shape the material to match your tooth. The material is then finalized with a high-intensity light, and then polished to perfection. That’s it!
Your recovery time will be minimum. Most people experience no side-effects or sensitivity to the procedure whatsoever. Others may have a slight sensitivity for a day or two in the tooth. After the procedure you will need to avoid colored foods and drinks that could stain the bonding.
