Welcome to the Antoine Dental Center blog! We are your source for comprehensive dental solutions in Houston, TX. And we’d love to see your smiling face in one of our chairs!
Around here, one of our specialties is restorative dentistry. That’s when we step in to restore your health if any problems should ever arise. You can bet we’ll be ready to jump in to treat a cavity with a simple filling, which will save your smile from more painful and expensive procedures down the road. We wouldn’t want to subject you to a root canal or an extraction unnecessarily!
Don’t get us wrong, prevention is always the preferred route. But statistics tell us that it is bound to happen to you over the course of your life. As such, discovering a cavity early enough to prevent further damage is the big thing for maintaining your good oral health.
Like we mentioned, fillings will fix you up in a hurry. You won’t have to beat yourself up about the decay for very long. As it happens, for decades, dentists have used a mix of mercury and other metals called amalgam for fillings. No one has ever disputed the effectiveness of such treatments. However, there have been numerous complaints about the metal itself, over the years. And there are good reasons for that.
For starters, amalgam is ugly and clashes against your otherwise white-colored teeth. Moreover, old-fashioned fillings can actually make your tooth more vulnerable to fracture and cause damage to the nearby healthy tooth structures in the long run. We bet you never considered that!
That’s why Antoine Dental Center now uses a newer, safer, and more aesthetically pleasing material for fillings: composite.
What is so special about composite? Composite consists of a blend of resins that lends itself well to the appearance of your natural teeth. With these fillings there won’t be any distractingly dark metallic splotches left to remind you of your cavity treatment.
They will look and feel like they actually belong in your mouth.
Besides being able to fill a cavity very discreetly, composite resin also has superior bonding properties that allow for much more durability.
It just makes sense to make the switch!
How Does It Work At Antoine Dental Center?
Getting a tooth-colored filling is easy. One of our cosmetic dentists will begin by numbing the treatment area. And if you are anxious about the procedure, we can offer sedation options to relax you right away.
Next, he will clean the cavity by removing the decayed tissue. Once the cavity has been cleaned, we will apply the putty-like composite resin material in thin layers. We will shape these layers to match the surface of your tooth.
Finally, We will harden the resin with a high-intensity light and polish it to match the sheen of your natural tooth. Once the filling is finished, it will blend seamlessly with the rest of your tooth. Because the light cures the composite dental fillings immediately, you can use it right away. You will recover quickly, possibly experiencing minor sensitivity and soreness that will go away in a day or two.
It couldn’t get much easier than that!
Restore Your Healthy Smile!
Our tooth-colored fillings are an important way of protecting and saving teeth that have already been damaged by a cavity.
If you have a cavity and need a dental filling, contact our Houston, TX dental office right away!
Welcome to the Antoine Dental Center blog! We are a multi-specialty office that offers a wide range of services under one roof. Our Houston-based practice is always looking for cutting-edge dental solutions to help make your treatments faster and more comfortable.
To that end, we are proud to offer a quick and “invisible” orthodontic treatment, called Invisalign, designed for adults who don’t want to take on the special challenges of conventional braces.
Just so you know, around here, we offer a full-range of orthodontics, including classic braces. But if you want a better smile and you aren’t up for a mouth full of obvious metal that requires monthly tune-ups at the dentist’s office and special tools for cleaning, and stays in your mouth for several years, we know exactly where you are coming from.
And that is why we think you’ll appreciate the subtle beauty of the Invisalign approach.
What Makes Invisalign Unique?
Invisalign is remarkably different than most conventional approaches to orthodontic treatment. This system works by relying on a series of aligners that are based on molds of your mouth to facilitate the movements of your teeth.
The neat thing is that by using modern dental technology, we can actually plan out your entire treatment and design your aligner trays during your initial consultation.
Similar to the way that orthodontic wires work, each Invisalign tray is specifically designed to move certain teeth, at certain times. Unlike metal braces, however, Invisalign aligners are purposefully understated in terms of appearance.
As it happens, they are made of clear, virtually “invisible” plastic, which makes it nearly impossible for anyone to notice that you are in the midst of a major orthodontic overhaul. Plus, you won’t have to worry about new brackets or tight wires causing you soreness.
Since the aligners are plastic, the treatment is easier on your gums and teeth, so there’s no chance that a bracket or sharp wire will cut your gums or cheeks. Instead of monthly adjustments, you will simply switch out the aligners on your own, every two weeks or so. This will keep the process moving forward according to our master plan.
Our patients who opt for Invisalign instead of old school braces, also have an easier time caring for their teeth because the aligners are removable and there are no food-trapping obstructions to brush or floss around.
You can actually remove Invisalign aligners any time you wish, so long as you wear them most of the day. This is especially helpful when taking meals, and there won’t be any dietary restrictions to worry about either!
Importantly, the treatment process is extremely effective and can be completed in about 12 months, which is a whole lot more appealing to adult patients than the 2-3 years that traditional methods require. Maybe you can relate?

Welcome to our Houston, TX dental blog! We are happy that you stopped by our online home today.
At Antoine Dental Center we strive to meet your family’s ever-evolving dentistry-related needs. But you have to come see us regularly for us to be able to do much good. And with spring, the great season of renewal, already upon us, now would be a great time to schedule your next appointment and let us get you back on-track.
Speaking of appointments, has it been awhile since you last darkened the doors of our office on Burress Street? Have you just been too busy? Or is there more to it than that? Are you perhaps paralyzed by fear when it comes to dentists. It’s alright, we won’t take it personally, but we will take it seriously. You see, there are many folks all over the country who suffer from a very real condition known as dental anxiety. It will create obstacles between you and your oral health, and that won’t be good for anyone. It is always better to confront the reality of the situation and deal with it head on.
Your Health Is Too Important To Ignore
So, how did you arrive at such a state? Some patients tell us that they have had legitimately bad experiences with doctors and dentists in the past, while others simply don’t like the idea of getting shots or the ominous sound of drills.
There is some good news for you.
By avoiding the dentist, and neglecting your oral health needs, you don’t have to relive any disturbing memories or handle whatever issues that may be currently unfolding in your mouth.
The bad news is that these issues always catch up with you in the end.
When this happens, you are usually in a much worse predicament than you would have been if you had just worked through your fears and let Antoine Dental Center keep you on the good road.
Ditching The Dentist Is A Bad Idea
Here’s the thing: By not going to the dentist every 3-6 months, you won’t be receiving the professional cleanings that effectively keep plaque and tartar from creating unhealthy situations.
You also will never be made aware of any decay or gum disease that can be easily filled or fixed early on. Plus, you won’t be getting looked over for oral cancer and other potentially serious problems. Basically, your fear of the dentist is creating a situation that may give you satisfaction in the short run but is not sustainable over time.
We Can Help Alleviate Dental Anxiety
You can trust that Antoine Dental Center is on your side in the fight against cavities, gum disease, and worse situations. Yet, if you are afraid to show your face in our office, we can’t possibly help protect you in a meaningful way.
That said, we do understand that your fear and anxiety is real, and we don’t take it lightly. That is why we make preventative maintenance and all of our other dental treatments easy and comfortable with compassionate care and by offering sedation dentistry options.
A Pleasant Dental Experience Awaits
Our team totally grasps that it takes a lot of courage to pick up the phone and make that appointment. This is an even more courageous act if you have been away for a while or suspect that you have major dental issues to resolve. But if you give us a chance, we will literally put your fears to rest. And there won’t be any lectures to make you feel worse about yourself.
We offer many amenities to help you feel like you’re at home, not at the dentist. FOr instance, you can sip on some coffee, water, or soda when you come in. You can also request a blanket and pillow if you feel uncomfortable or get chilly in the office. Many of our patients love listening to their favorite music to relax, while others look forward to watching TV to pass the time away. And we can go further to put you at ease, if need be.
Sedation Dentistry At Antoine Dental Center
So, what’s the deal with dental sedation? Sedation dentistry refers to the use of sedatives to relax you for your dental procedure.
You can count on this service whenever you need to undergo an invasive procedure or deal with your dental fear. There are three types of sedation offering different levels of relaxation:
Oral Sedation: If your treatment is non-invasive and you only have mild dental fear, you may settle for an orally administered form of sedation. Our dentist will give you a pill that you have to take prior to your operation. In spite of the simplicity of the process, however, oral sedatives are still powerful.
Inhalation Sedation: This type of sedation is the most frequently used of the three. It involves the use of nitrous oxide or ‘laughing gas’ to normalize your bodily functions and relax you for the dental treatment. In most cases, you will fall asleep. You may even forget what has happened during the procedure.
Intravenous Sedation: (IV) If your treatment is invasive or you have severe dental fear, you may count on this intravenous sedation to make things easier for you. This form of sedation is administered by injecting the sedative into your bloodstream. The result is immediate and you may relax almost instantly.
Dental Anxiety Is No Longer An Obstacle
There couldn’t be a better time to reclaim your health! At Antoine Dental Center, we won’t let dental anxiety continue to be a stumbling block.

If you have teeth that are stained, chipped, cracked, overcrowded, yellow, gapped, or missing altogether, then you will want to schedule your cosmetic dentistry consultation sooner rather than later.
Together we’ll figure out the best plan for treatment, or combination of treatments.
Until then, you can be thinking about some of our fantastic cosmetic dentistry solutions…
Professional Teeth Whitening
Your teeth will become discolored as they age and your daily habits (coffee, tea, chocolate, wine) will leave their mark on them too. But there is a way to reverse all that darkness: a teeth whitening treatment from Antoine Dental Center.
We actually offer several different methods of teeth whitening. These include in-office whitening and professional-grade take-home whitening kits. These are much safer and far more effective than those mass-produced store-bought kits. During your consultation, we can help you choose the approach that best meets your needs, such as our super-fast Zoom! method.
If you are worried about costs or invasive procedures, this one might be a good introduction to cosmetic dentistry for you. Bonding is a cost-effective cosmetic solution that we can employ to correct small blemishes on your teeth.
With this procedure, a durable, tooth-colored material is bonded directly to your tooth to restore it to a more pristine condition. It is fast, effective and painless!
When you lose a tooth as an adult you will feel ashamed, antisocial, and depressed. You won’t look the same and your health will deteriorate as you are unable to chew the fiber-rich foods that you love.
To restore your life, as well as your looks and biting power, we offer dental implants that serve as replacement roots and teeth.
Our implants are strong posts made of titanium. Once installed, an implant will immediately begin to fuse to your jawbone providing a permanent anchor for your replacement tooth.
Invisalign Clear Braces
Invisalign is a modern method for straightening stubborn adult teeth. It primarily tackles teeth that are crooked, crowded, or gapped. And it makes the necessary adjustments in much more dignified manner than old-fashioned metal braces.
It should be noted that Invisalign is not for everyone. Still, if you are deemed to be a good candidate for Invisalign, your treatment will be comfortable, fast, effective, safe, and very subtle. And, unlike traditional braces (which can take 2-3 years), your transformation can be completed in only 12 months.
Throughout the Invisalign treatment process, you will wear a series of clear, removable aligners instead of metal brackets and wires. You switch them out yourself, so there’s no need for adjustments. And you can take them at dinner time or if you need to rinse them off. The best part is that no one will ever know about the construction zone in your mouth.
Our veneers are a versatile catch-all fix for many dental issues. This means that if you have several dental problems going on at once, they can all be covered up by veneers. During this cosmetic procedure, we simply remove a small amount of enamel from your teeth and then cement the porcelain veneers on top of them.
Make Your Makeover Happen!
If you have been inspired to make a move, contact our Houston office to schedule a cosmetic consultation. The aforementioned solutions are just a sampling of all that we can do for you. Let’s make it happen!
Welcome to the Antoine Dental Center blog! We are a Houston-based center for comprehensive dentistry solutions. That is to say that we have a variety of ways for improving the health and appearance of your smile, including orthodontic solutions.
We all had friends with braces growing up, but if you never received treatment yourself, it probably all seemed a bit strange. And you may have wondered what it was all about. Orthodontics is just the name of a field within dentistry that identifies, corrects and prevents problems with your teeth, jaws and facial structure.
Orthodontic treatment can often result in great looking teeth. Yet, our focus is broader than mere cosmetics. We are trying to create the best possible environment for good health. The sort of alignments that we provide can also improve oral health by significantly lowering the risk of tooth decay and advanced gum disease.
The important thing to keep in mind is that every treatment plan is unique and we have different strategies to employ depending on your individual needs and budget.
One thing we are asked a lot is if it is still possible to fix problematic areas of a smile once adolescence has passed. The answer is an amphatic yes! We have found that orthodontic treatment can make a meaningful difference at any age.
If you are all grown up and didn’t receive orthodontic treatment as a child or teenager, don’t assume that you have missed your window of opportunity. We can work with you to find a convenient solution for this stage of your life.
We actually have several quick and subtle options for active professionals. Our team of orthodontic experts can help you, one way or another, with our wide range of orthodontic treatments. These include classic metal braces, Invisalign, and so forth.
What Can Orthodontics Correct?
This is a specialized field but there are a wide range of issues that we can correct. Typically, we treat problems like bad bites, missing or extra teeth, misalignment, and jaw joint disorders. So, if you are living with crowded, crooked, or gapped teeth, we can get you a healthier, happier smile to enjoy for the rest of your life.
We usually accomplish the desired transformation with the help of braces, aligners, expanders, retainers and other devices. These orthodontic appliances apply the necessary pressure on your teeth to shift them to a more perfect position over the course of your treatment.
The treatment times vary depending on your age, the severity of your condition, and the method that is chosen to correct your orthodontic issues.
What Is The Cost Of Orthodontic Treatment?
There are no generic price levels with this kind of stuff. We can give you an accurate picture when you come in for your consultation. Keep in mind that the costs will vary depending on your unique treatment plan and timetable. No matter which treatment you decide on, we will try to make it as easy as possible for you to pay. This is truly an investment in health and happiness.
Come Find Out If Orthodontic Treatment Is Right For You
Why not make the life-changing decision to transform your smile at Antoine Dental Center? We will explain each step of the treatment process thoroughly so that you can begin treatment confident about your choices and realistic about your results.

Welcome to the Antoine Dental Center blog! We hope this online platform has some good dentistry-related information for you and your family. And if you live in Houston, we hope you’ll drop by sometime to check us out in-person. Once you are entrusted to our care, we’ll be there for the good times, and those unexpected bad times that inevitably arise over the course of a lifetime.
Today we want to talk about a certain kind of dental emergency: when a tooth, or multiple teeth, become dislodged. We aren’t talking so much about the times when the affected teeth can be saved, but rather when they can not. This is all too often the case. In fact, by all accounts, up to 70% of the adult population in the U.S. is missing at least one tooth. That’s a staggering figure, right?
Let’s get something straight: adult tooth loss is traumatic, no matter how it happens. Until you find a way to treat it, your health will suffer, and you won’t look or feel like your old self. It can be downright discouraging.
Around here, we have plenty of folks who can help you pick up the pieces and put your life back together. Our team of highly-skilled implant dentists has received hundreds of hours of education and advanced training in order to be able to provide this permanent solution for your missing teeth. You’ll be happy to know that we use the latest dental technology to plan the implants treatment that is right for you.
We firmly believe that a dental implant is your best restorative solution for a missing tooth. Here’s why:
This is a pretty basic surgical procedure that involves a two-step process. Your implant will be inserted and allowed to fuse into place. After sufficient healing, a crown will be placed. And then, you will be all set to get on with your life. Only now, you won’t have to be embarrassed about anything!
Implants Improve Your Looks
A restoration is ought to blend in with the rest of your smile, and a dental implant form our office makes that happen! The stunning crown we place over the implant will look totally natural, to the point that no one will ever know you’ve experienced tooth loss as an adult.
They Feel Natural
No other solution will be as comfortable as a dental implant. You will actually feel normal again. Our implant and crown combination are designed to feel so much like your natural tooth that you’ll probably forget you had to replace any at all.
Implants Bring Back The Bite Power
You will have a real biting force like before you lost any teeth. And you can go back to eating the foods you love, and the ones that keep you healthy! Your implant will be totally secure because it will bond directly to the jawbone. You can eat and smile with confidence.
See If It Is Right For You!
Dental implants are a great way for you to get the life-changing restoration you need.

We think you’ll like what we can do for you. And if you live in the Houston area, we’d love the opportunity to earn your trust.
As it happens, orthodontic solutions are the subject of today’s post. Have you ever considered getting the situation in your mouth straightened out once and for all?
Our dentists know that everyone has unique dental needs. As such, our office has kept up with the latest dental technology to be able to provide you with more treatment options, more comfortable treatments, and shorter treatment times. In fact, if you have crooked, crowded, or gapped teeth, we think you’ll love the gorgeous grin that the forward-looking method known as Invisalign can deliver.
When Invisalign was introduced back in 1999, it was a real game-changer.
Our adult patients love that this technique is radically different than conventional approaches to orthodontic treatment.
Rather than metal brackets and wires, Invisalign works by employing a series of clear, plastic aligners (that are based on molds of your mouth) to facilitate the movements of your teeth.
Invisalign aligners are nearly invisible which means your treatment will be discreet and won’t attract any unwanted attention or rude comments from your peers. They are actually more like whitening trays than braces.
Using advanced 3D computer imaging technology, Invisalign depicts your complete treatment plan, from the initial position of your teeth to their final desired position. Before you even start treatment, you will be able to get a preview of what your teeth will look like after Invisalign.
Every two weeks or so you must switch the aligners out yourself to keep things moving forward. Thus, there won’t be any inconvenient office visits required for tune-ups.
Not unlike traditional orthodontic wires, each Invisalign tray is specifically designed to move certain teeth, at very specific times. But the difference is that the aligners fit snugly for a more comfortable experience, one that won’t cause any mouth sores or irritation.
What’s more, they are not left in non-stop. Because they are removable, eating will be a lot more enjoyable, and cleaning will be a breeze. You won’t have to alter your diet or carry around special tools to remove trapped food. You just pop them out and rinse them under warm water.
The magic happens quickly too.
You won’t have to look back and measure years of your life by your treatment because the process is extremely effective and can be completed in about 12 months, depending on the severity of your dental issues.
Your Houston,TX orthodontic treatment will leave you smiling in the end. No kidding, the results are always stunning.

Cosmetic dentistry. What comes to mind when you hear those words? Celebrities on the red carpet? World-famous athletes giving a press conference after a game? Or maybe even a politician giving a stump speech?
What else comes to mind? If you’re like most people, you probably equate cosmetic dentistry with the word “expensive.” You think of it as something you can’t possibly afford.
But the truth is advances in dental technology have placed cosmetic dentistry closer in reach than ever before. You might even be shocked to learn how affordable many cosmetic dentistry procedures are these days.
At the Antoine Dental Center in Houston, TX, we’re proud to offer dental bonding: one of the most affordable and attractive cosmetic dentistry procedures available today. So in today’s post of our dental health blog, we’re going to tell you more about dental bonding. We’ll tell you the flaws dental bonding can correct in your smile and look at how the treatment is performed. Let’s get started!
Dental Bonding Can Cover Minor Flaws in Your Smile
Dental bonding, also called tooth bonding, is a fast and affordable procedure which can correct many different flaws with your smile. Dental bonding is quick and painless; we use composite resin (the same material used in tooth-colored fillings) to restore the natural structure of your tooth.
Composite resin is a blended mix of plastic and glass which looks just like natural teeth, we even match the same of the composite resin to that of your natural teeth. We can use dental bonding to repair small caps or cracks in your teeth. We can also use it to correct misshapen or unevenly space teeth. We can even use it to cover stains and deep discolorations on your teeth.
Dental Bonding is a Quick and Painless Procedure
One of the best parts of dental bonding is not just that it’s effective, but that it’s extremely fast. We can complete dental bonding in just a single visit, it normally takes an hour or less for each tooth we need to repair. It’s so painless that we generally don’t even need to use anesthesia. (Dental sedation is available if you’re nervous or anxious about the procedure.)
We begin by roughing the surface of your tooth to allow the resin to adhere to your tooth. We then apply a special adhesive to keep the composite resin in place. After color-matching the composite resin to your other teeth, it is applied in a liquid form to the tooth. We then mold and shape it to cover the flaw in the tooth. Once it is in place, we use a special high-intensity light to hardened it. Then the resin is trimmed, shaped, and polished to perfection.
Not only is dental bonding painless, you will recover extremely fast from the procedure. Many people have no symptoms at all, but you may experience some minor sensitivity. For the first couple of days after the bonding has been performed you’ll need to avoid dark-colored foods and drinks which can stain the bonding. That’s all there is to it!
Although dental bonding is an excellent option for many flaws, it is not always the most effective option for different problems. We may recommend dental crowns or dental veneers for more serious cosmetic flaws which require more stain-resistance and durability.

Have you been living with a smile you hate?
Maybe you have some cracked, chipped, or worn teeth. Maybe there’s an embarrassing gap between two teeth that you’d like to have closed without undergoing orthodontic treatment. Or maybe you just can’t seem to get yellowing or stains to disappear from your teeth no matter what you do.
If that sounds like you, you may be a candidate for cosmetic dentistry. One of the most effective way to treat and cover the flaws listed above is with dental veneers. Veneers are a popular choice among celebrities, athletes, and even politicians who want to enjoy a brand new smile.
But just what is a dental veneer? A dental veneer is a tooth-colored laminated which is applied to the outer layer of your teeth. They’re a great way to cover stains and hide other minor flaws in your smile’s appearance. But not all veneers are created equally.
Many veneers are ill-fitting or simply look alien and unnatural. At the Antoine Dental Center in Houston, TX, we offer two of the finest types of dental veneers available in the world: porcelain veneers and Lumineers.
In today’s post of our dental health blog, we’re going to look at the unique advantages offered by both types of these veneers. We’ll also look at what you can expect if you choose to undergo this cosmetic dentistry procedure. Let’s get started!
Get a Hollywood Smile with Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers are trusted by Hollywood stars because they look just like the natural enamel of your teeth. They are superior to outdated and unnatural looking veneers constructed with inferior materials which were used by less reputable cosmetic dentists in years past. We can use porcelain veneers to create an amazing smile for you in just a few visits to our comfortable and modern office.
During your first visit, your cosmetic dentist will sit down with you to determine if you’re a good candidate for porcelain veneers. If you decide to move forward with the procedure we’ll plan your beautiful new smile by taking digital X-rays and dental impressions. We can even give you a sneak peak of what your new smile will look like. Your veneers will then be custom-created at a dental laboratory.
Then we’ll painlessly prepare your teeth to receive your new veneers. We’ll need to trim part of your enamel to ensure that your veneers have a perfect fit. We prepare your teeth under local anesthesia and also offer sedation dentistry services if you’re nervous about the procedure. We may also fit you with temporary veneers to protect your teeth.
Once your veneers have been created, you’ll return to our office and we’ll bond them to your teeth. That’s it! It’s that quick and easy. When we’re finished, you’ll have that new Hollywood smile which you’ve always dreamed about.
Enjoy the Advantages of Lumineers Veneers
We’re also proud to offer Lumineers veneers at the Antoine Dental Center. This trusted cosmetic dentistry procedure has been around for three decades and created countless memorable smiles. Some of our patients prefer some of the unique advantages offered by Lumineers over porcelain veneers.
Lumineers are a completely painless cosmetic dentistry procedure. Because Lumineers are much thinner than porcelain veneers, we generally do not need to numb your teeth before your receive them. The thin but durable nature of Lumineers also requires much less enamel to be tried before the veneers can be placed. That means the whole procedure can be completed in just two quick and easy visits to our comfortable and modern office.

Gum disease. You’ve probably heard about it in passing through toothpaste or mouthwash commercials. What you may not realize is just how badly gum disease can affect the health and appearance of your smile, and just how widespread the disease it.
According to the American Dental Association, gum disease affects up to half of all American adults. Gum disease can cause tooth-loss, chronic bad breath, and has been linked to potentially life-threatening conditions such as heart disease. The good news is that gum disease is both treatable and reversible.
At the Antoine Dental Center in Houston, TX, we offer treatment for every stage of gum disease. We can detect the early symptoms of gum disease and reverse it before it becomes a serious health issue. We can also treat advanced gum disease and help you preserve your smile.
In today’s post of our dental health blog, we’re going to give you the 411 on gum disease. We’ll discuss the symptoms of gum disease, as well as the detection of gum disease. Then we’ll look at the treatment options which are available if you are suffering from gum disease. Let’s get started!
What are the Symptoms of Gum Disease?
Gum disease can be a silent and even painless disease in its earliest stages. Gum disease infections are caused when plaque and other harmful bacteria build-up on and inside of your gums. This build-up is caused by normal everyday habits like eating surgery or acid foods. Tobacco use and your genetic background can also increase your risk for gum disease.
The early stages of gum disease are known as gingivitis. Gingivitis can lead to the inflammation and swelling of your gums, leaving them feeling extremely tender. Your gums may also bleed when you brush or floss your teeth, or you may experience chronic bad breath.
Advanced gum disease is a far more serious issue. You may begin to notice that your gums are separating from your teeth, or that your teeth are loosening. If left untreated, advanced gum disease may lead to tooth loss and bone loss.
State-of-the-Art Gum Disease Detection
At the Antoine Dental Center we have the advanced technology needed to detect and plan your gum disease treatment. We may use a special i-CAT machine which allows us to take 3D cat scan images or digital X-rays. With these advanced imaging technologies we can spot the exact location of your gum disease and make a plan for treating it.
Comfortable Treatments for Gum Disease
Your gum disease treatment will depend on the severity of your gum disease. The earliest stages of gum disease are often reversible with a simple, routine dental cleaning and changes in your brushing and flossing routine. If the disease has progressed slightly past that point, we may recommend that you undergo a deep cleaning.
A deep cleaning, also known as root planing and scaling, allows us to clean inside of your gums. We begin by removing tartar and plaque located at and under your gums. Then we remove any bacteria buildups from the roots of your teeth. This allows your gums to begin to reattach to your teeth. We perform deep cleanings under local anesthesia to ensure a comfortable procedure, and dental sedation services are available if you are nervous or anxious.
For advanced stages of gum disease, you may need to undergo gum surgery to prevent the loss of your teeth. During this comfortable surgery (which can be preformed with dental sedation) we lift your gums and remove all the plaque, tartar, and disease. Then we position your gums to allow them to reattach to your gums. In certain cases you may also need to undergo a bone graft or tissue graft if the damage caused by gum disease is severe.
